Good Morning Student Leaders and Advisors,
I hope you have all had a great and relaxing holiday and break. I am looking forward to seeing you all back on campus today!
Below, please find a list of updates that will be vital to your success this semester!
- Staffing Update: I am excited to announce our newest staff member in the Office of Student Engagement! Mandie Banks begins today and serves as the part time Program Coordinator, Student Organization Operations. She will assist me with Student Organization Management and oversee the New Student Organization Process!
- Academic Year Timeline: The Academic Year Timeline is attached on this email. I strongly recommend marking all the dates on your calendar so you won’t miss any important deadlines! As always, any changes that need to be made to the timeline will be announced via email with an updated timeline.
- Updated Organization Requirements: There have been some changes to the recognition process and are vital to the success of your organizations this year. Please see the new tiered requirements below:
LEVEL 1 – Organizations receiving no SGA funding.
- Hold a minimum of one meeting per month or three meetings per semester. This requirement is in place simply to ensure your organization is active.
- LEVEL 1 ONLY:Send one representative to the Student Leadership Conference on Friday, February 28. More details to come!
- Gain pre-approval for all events, programs, and meetings using the Event Registration form located in Experience Widener. This is the form you will utilize to reserve spaces on campus. All requests are due a minimum of three (3) weeks in advance.
- Complete the annual transition process, including uploading active members and reporting changes to the executive board through the Student Organization Recognition Form in Experience Widener by the designated deadline listed in the AY 2025 Timeline and Key Datesfor each academic year.
- Send one organization delegate to act as a member of the Council of Representatives (COR) and represent the interests of the organization during SGA Town Hall meetings.
- Tuesday, January 28 | 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – University Center Webb Room
- Tuesday, February 25 | 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – University Center Webb Room
- Tuesday, March 25 | 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Lathem Hall
- Tuesday, April 22 | 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Lathem Hall
LEVEL 2 – Organizations receiving or seeking SGA funding.
- Meet all of the Level 1 requirements.
- Send a minimum of two (2) Executive Board Members to represent your organization at the two-part Calendar Planning Session.
- All incoming presidents and treasurers must attend an SGA Finance Training workshop.
- Send a minimum of two (2) membersto attend the Student Leadership Conference on Friday, February 28. More details to come!
LEVEL 3 – Fraternity & Sorority Life Organizations
- Meet all of the Level 1 requirements.
- Send a minimum of two (2) Executive Board Members to represent your organization during the two-part Calendar Planning Session.
- All incoming Presidents and Treasurers (or Vice Presidents with financial duties) must attend an SGA Finance training workshop.
- Send a minimum of two (2) membersto attend the Student Leadership Conference on Friday, February 28. More details to come!
- Meet all requirements of Points of Pride Chapter Development Plan.
