Campus Chalking Policy

Recognized student organizations and campus departments are welcome to use sidewalk chalk as a creative way to promote events, make announcements, and share messages across campus. To help maintain the beauty of our grounds and ensure consistency with University policies, all chalking must be approved in advance.

Chalking is permitted only with water-soluble, non-toxic chalk on outdoor, horizontal surfaces exposed to the elements (such as sidewalks). Messages must identify the sponsoring organization and follow all University guidelines. Individuals approved to chalk are expected to cooperate with Campus Safety if asked for information about their activity.
