What is Student Government Association?

The SGA of Widener University is the official agency of student self-government and shall provide a means for responsive and effective student participation in the regulation of student life at the University. SGA is the official voice of the students in matters of concern and is the acting liaison for students. SGA seeks to further the welfare of students and their interests and support academic freedom and responsibilities along with student rights and obligations. Additionally, it enhances and facilitates the educational, cultural and social development of students.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Student Government Association is to empower students to advocate for their concerns and ideas through one common voice by promoting and fostering leadership development, continuous innovation, balance between academic progress and personal growth, and preparation to lead in the world of tomorrow.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Student Government Association of Widener University is to serve as the official agency of student self-governance and represent the official student voice in University matters by supporting student rights. The Student Government Association shall act as a liaison between the general student body and University Administration to address concerns, support student interests, enhance the educational, cultural, and social development of students, and support the academic mission of Widener University.
