Resident Students Who Have a Widener PO Box Can Receive Packages at Widener Post Office

Reposted Wed, September 4, 2019  06:00 AM EST

Please be advised that only resident WU students with a mailbox may receive packages at the Widener Post Office. The Post Office is not currently equipped to provide this service for students without a Widener Post Office box. Off-campus and commuter students occasionally inquire about receiving or purchasing a post office box. Currently, there are only enough post office boxes to accommodate resident students. Remember that only Widener resident students are assigned a Widener Post Office box.

Be advised that packages arriving for non-resident students will be returned to the sender or sent to a forwarding address, which can result in delays in these students receiving their packages.

Consider Use of USPS Tracking or Insurance

When sending your letter or package from the Widener Post Office, consider using USPS Tracking and/or insurance (for a package). All of these items are available for purchase in addition to the postage method (first class, priority mail, etc.) you select.

If you choose USPS Priority Mail, USPS Tracking & insurance covering $50 of value is included at no charge.

There is an additional charge for USPS Tracking on all other services, but please note USPS Tracking cannot be used on a first-class letter. (This information was updated on March 26, 2014.)

Sending a package that is valuable?

• Consider insuring the package.

Want to know when the package arrives?

• USPS Tracking (formerly Delivery Confirmation) enables you to track your package.

Want to track a letter?

• Consider using certified mail.

• Choose return receipt if you want a signed record of arrival and who received it.

• Choose without return receipt if you just want to know if the letter made it to its destination.

REMINDER: Never, ever send cash through the mail.
