Widener Post Office – Chester Campus – Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who is permitted to have a Widener Post Office Box?
Widener post office boxes are available only to Widener students currently residing in WU residence halls.
Q: I am a Widener student living off campus. Can I receive packages at the Widener Post Office?
A: No. Packages can be received at the Widener Post Office by resident students who have a Widener Post Office Box #. If you have packages sent to the Widener Post Office they will likely be forwarded back to the sender.
Q: I am a Widener resident student waiting for a letter from my friend. When is student mail delivered to the boxes?
A: Typically, student mail is in the boxes by Noon.
During the first two weeks of the academic year, mail delivery may be later due to the extremely high volume of packages that are being processed.
Q: I checked the tracking (delivery confirmation) on a package being sent to me through the United States Postal Service (USPS). It said my package arrived. When I went to the Widener Post Office it was not there. Where’s my package?
A: It is likely at the Chester Post Office. We pick up mail there at 7:45 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. If the package arrived at the Chester Post Office later than that, we may not have it until the next day.
Q: I need a box for something I want to ship out. Do you have any?
A: We only have Priority Mail boxes – you know, if it fits, it ships…
FYI—Priority Mail boxes may only be used for shipping priority mail.
Q: I am a Widener resident student. What happens if I’m not having senders put my student box number on mail they send to me?
A: Your mail delivery will be delayed until we have time to look up your box number.
Q: I am a Widener resident student. What happens if I’m not having senders put Widener University on my mail?
A: It is very likely your mail may be misdirected. The Chester Post Office also has post office boxes, and they may confuse your box number with one of their own.
Q: Where is 1 University Place?
A: Technically, it is the address of the Old Main driveway. This address was created in cooperation with the USPS to facilitate the delivery of mail in the late 1990’s.
Q: I am a Widener employee on the Chester Campus. What is the latest time I can drop off outgoing mail to the Widener Post Office to have it go out?
A: 3:15 p.m. is the latest time that mail can be dropped off. You can read all about it by reading Outgoing Mail from Widener Offices in the Members’ Only section.
Q: What area oversees the Post Office operation?
A: The Widener Post Office is overseen by the Operations Department.
Q: Are Post Office staff members USPS employees or Widener employees?
A: They are Widener employees.
