Co-op Program
Widener’s Renowned Co-op Program
What is Co-op?
The co-op program is facilitated by the Career Design and Development Office and is open to students in the School of Business Administration, the School of Engineering, and juniors in the Department of Computer Science.
Eligible students can gain 4, 8, or 12-months of paid work experience throughout their studies and still graduate within four years.
The Career Design and Development team supports students throughout the co-op program which includes mandatory professional development workshops, resume reviews, and practice interviews in addition to optional cover letter preparation and individual advising meetings.
Our philosophy is one of partnership—we empower students to take an active role in targeting, seeking, and securing the best-fit co-op placements.

How do I sign up for Co-op?
If you are interested in the co-op program you must attend an orientation and you will receive instructions on how to commit. You must start preparing for co-op nearly a year ahead of your actual co-op experience.
Generally, you will participate in a four-month co-op during the Fall term of your Sophomore year. This means you need to attend an orientation, the Fall term of your Freshman year. You can also participate in an eight-month co-op during the Spring and Summer Terms at the end of your Junior year. If this is your first co-op experience then you will need to attend an orientation in the Spring of your Sophomore year. Learn more about our program timeline here.
Upcoming Orientation Dates
For students interested in the Fall 2024 Co-op Cycle: Interested students should attend ONE orientation session the year prior to the cycle they want to attend. Following orientation, students will be provided with a link to officially commit to the program.
Students interested in participating in the Spring 2024 Co-op Cycle should check back for orientation dates and more information later in the semester. Have immediate questions? Email our team!
Commitment Deadlines
Students who are interested in committing to the Fall 2024 cycle should complete the materials they received following their orientation session by Friday, January 26th at 4pm. Prior to committing, students must alert their academic advisor that they are planning to participate.
