Pre-K Counts
Pre-K Counts
Our Pre-K Counts program here at the WCDC is a government funded program offering high quality care to qualifying families free of cost. Families qualify based on their household size and income. Aftercare is available at an additional fee. As a requirement of the Pre-K Counts program, both our lead and assistant teacher, hold degrees within the field of education.
Our Pre-K Counts classroom is a mixed-aged classroom for children ages three through five years old. Offering intentional learning experiences, our Pre-K Counts teachers continuously balance the needs of both older and younger learners. With a careful selection of toys and manipulatives, our older learners serve as peer mentors for our younger students, while our younger learners engage in open ended thinking, play, and discovery. Providing instruction that meets students’ needs while simultaneously offering more challenging instruction when appropriate, our Pre-K Counts teachers encourage all students to be motivated to learn and lead by example.
Our Pre-K Counts program does not run throughout the summer and is not available for students who are kindergarten eligible. Private pay care is offered throughout the summer to our Pre-K Count students.
