Internet Access
Making sure you’re connected across campus at Widener is important. Whether you’re writing a paper in your dorm or on a video call outside, you will be accessing high-speed internet on a secure network.
Wireless Internet
Wi-Fi network connectivity provides high-bandwidth, high-availability campus wireless connectivity to the internet and other online services from all campus locations.
There are multiple wireless networks at Widener. Each wireless network has its own name (SSID):
- WU-SECURE: for faculty, staff, and students in all buildings on each campus (outside of the residence halls) and across many outdoor spaces
- WU-OPEN-GAME-STREAM: specifically to connect gaming systems and streaming devices (Roku, Amazon Fire devices, Apple TV, etc.)
- WUGUEST: for Widener guests and visitors
- Eduroam: for students, faculty, and staff from other Eduroam institutions to connect with their own institutions’s credentials
For security reasons, Widener University requires that every device you connect to the wireless network must be registered. This will protect your data and devices from other devices that might not be secure. Registration for computers and mobile devices will occur in the connection process. For assistance with registering gaming systems, fill out a QuickTicket.
For current members of the Widener Pride experiencing Wi-Fi issues, visit our Wi-Fi Troubleshooting page.
Wired Internet
Wired internet is available in most buildings if needed, including residence halls. If you require a wired internet access port in a residence hall, fill out the Wired Residence Hall Port Request form.
Guest and Visitor Access
Widener provides network access for our guests and visitors. Any guest or visitor should use the WUGUEST wireless network.
For access 24 hours or less, they can complete the Guest Self Registration form available in the connection process.
