Your Widener University account provides you access and licenses to different software applications for free to assist your academic productivity. Microsoft

Your Widener account provides you access to a Microsoft account that includes e-mail, OneDrive, Microsoft Office products on the web as well as the ability to download Microsoft Office desktop applications on up to five devices. Turnitin Draft Coach

Turnitin Draft Coach is an add-on for Microsoft Word (web version) that reviews your writing for plagiarism, provides feedback on grammar, and assists with citations. Your Widener account includes access to this tool so you can improve your writing prior to submitting your work. Learn more about how to install and use Draft Coach.

 

VLAB (SPSS, MATLAB, & More)

Widener has partnered with Apporto to provide students with a virtual computer lab (VLAB) to utilize most Windows-based software that can be found around campus in our computer labs, such as Matlab, SPSS, and R Studio. You can start your work on a Windows computer, continue on an iPad, monitor progress on an Android, and finish on a MacBook – without missing a beat. It also allows you utilize your OneDrive to save your work in a secure environment. Access VLAB and sign in with your Widener credentials to see what software is available and take advantage of your access.

 

NVivo

NVivo is a powerful tool for qualitative and mixed-methods research, compatible with both macOS and Windows operating systems. With NVivo, you can enhance your research experience and make the most of your data analysis. To take advantage of NVivo for your research needs, you can request an account via request form.

Respondus Lockdown Browser

In some courses, exams may be assigned requiring Lockdown Browser in Canvas. This is software that can be installed on your Windows or Mac computer. It is best to download this software ahead of the quiz or exam that requires it to avoid any glitches or delays when it is time to actually take the assessment. You can download Responds LockDown Browser through this link. If you are allowed to use an iPad, you can download the lockdown browser via the App Store.

If you have any issues with Respondus Lockdown Browser, visit the TSC in the library for immediate assistance.

 

Using Campus Computers

If you are utilizing one of the open computers on campus, all software listed on this page is readily available. This can be helpful if your personal device does not meet specific software requirements or your device is currently unavailable.
