Turnitin Draft Coach

Turnitin Draft Coach is an add-on for Microsoft Word that helps you improve your academic and professional writing by running similarity checks, identifying grammar issues, and checking your citations. This tool is accessible to all Widener students, faculty, and staff in the web browser version of Microsoft Word.

Getting Started

  1. Access Microsoft Word from a web browser. Make sure you are logged in to Microsoft with your Widener credentials.
  2. Click Turnitin in the toolbar as shown below.Microsoft Word toolbar with Turnitin circled
  3. Click Draft Coach under the toolbar. A sidebar will appear.
  4. Accept the Terms and Conditions if you are using it for the first time.

Helpful Features:

[1] Similarity – This will compare your writing to a vast database of submitted and published work and provide you with a percentage of how much your work matches work from the database. You can run this report a maximum of 3 times per document.

 

[2] Citations – This will compare your reference list to your in-text citations to verify that all references are cited within your work and that all in-text citations are in your reference list.

 

[3] Grammar – This report will show you grammatical concerns based on US-English so that you can review them and make necessary adjustments.
