Zoom AI Companion

Whether you’re new to AI or have been exploring its benefits for a while, you may be wondering how Zoom’s new AI Companion can help you. Review the new tools that everyone at Widener can use.

Make the Most of Zoom AI Companion

When enabled by the host, AI Companion can answer questions about a meeting in progress.

Participants can ask for a summary of what has been discussed, what specific action items are, or if their name has been mentioned.

Meeting hosts have privacy settings to control whether they want participants to be able to ask questions about the meeting, including finding out about what happened before they joined.

Zoom AI settings pop up asking who can asking questions to ai Companion

Be mindful of how your meeting is setup and whether any participants will be joining for only part of a meeting when selecting an option.

Meeting hosts can receive a summary of the meeting after it ends, and even choose to allow attendees to receive a copy.

Smart Recordings

With Smart Recordings enabled, cloud recordings are automatically organized into chapters and highlights are generated, which can be shared and seen by others. This helps you review recordings faster for meetings you may have missed and it also allows you to generate action items for attendees.

Smart recordings can even provide the host with analytics on key meeting metrics including talk speed, talk-listen ratio, longest stretch of speech, and filler word usage.

Safety in Mind

Meeting hosts have control over AI summary features. They are all turned off by default (so you’ll need to enable them to try them out!) and meeting attendees receive a warning when they enter a meeting with AI summary features turned on:

Zoom’s official stance is that they do not use any customer, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or other communications-like content (such as poll results, whiteboards, and reactions) to train Zoom’s or third-party AI models. However, the best practice is to avoid entering sensitive data into any AI system and to use it judiciously.

You can learn more about other Zoom AI Companion features and how Zoom AI Companion features handle your data.
